Who are you?

We are Metronome, a one-person design studio run by Micaela Jelsone. We specialize in brand strategy and identity, but our skill set spans a wide range of services, like packaging, website design, and creative campaigns.

Why do you keep saying “we”?
Good question. Though Metronome is run solely by Micaela, we often collaborate with other creative professionals to serve our clients’ needs. Since we specialize in graphic design, we’ve built a network of illustrators, copywriters, motion designers, and developers that can fill in the gaps in our skill set. If your project requires something Micaela can’t do herself, she’ll call in one of these great folks.

What is brand strategy?
Simply put, strategy is the reasoning behind design. It sits in the intersection of business goals, audience psychology, and competitive context. It gives purpose to design decisions beyond “because I like it.”

When you hire us to design your brand, we don’t actually design for you—we design for the people who are going to encounter your brand across many touchpoints. Your audience is a specific group of people with specific needs, and uncovering those needs takes research.

Everything is wrapped in strategy. We don’t skip this phase. If you’re interested in learning more, we could talk about brand strategy all day—let’s schedule a meeting.

What if I just need a logo?
We avoid designing just a logo because a logo by itself does not a brand make. If a logo is a handshake, brand identity is a full conversation. In other words, a logo is only one small piece of your brand, and we’re experts in building complete systems.

Who do you work with?
